Will you help keep our energy system secure and future-proof? Enexis is at the heart of the energy transition and, as a regional grid operator, forms a crucial part of the Netherlands’ critical infrastructure. This makes our digital environment an attractive target for attackers and an exciting challenge for you as a Cyber Defense Specialist.

To stay one step ahead, we are building a next-generation, tier-less Security Operations Center (SOC) within our Digital Resilience Center: a technology-driven team focused on automation, continuous improvement, and minimizing manual effort.

As a Cyber Defense Specialist, you will be one of the driving forces behind our tier-less SOC. You are a creative problem solver with a security engineering mindset, and your motto is: "Work smarter, not harder." Within the team, your primary focus will be on Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI).

How you’ll tackle this challenge

• Build and maintain an up-to-date threat landscape for Enexis, the energy sector, and the supply chain by collecting and analyzing information from OSINT sources, commercial feeds, technical indicators, and partner networks.
• Investigate threat actors, campaigns, malware families, and attack techniques, and map them using frameworks such as MITRE ATT & ACK.
• Translate threat intelligence into actionable intelligence products, reports, and recommendations at operational, tactical, and strategic levels.
• Turn insights into action through hunting hypotheses, IOCs, and TTPs that support detection engineering, incident response, and risk management.
• Support crisis and incident management by providing up-to-date threat intelligence during incidents, and contribute to exercises and scenario analyses.

How you approach the role

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level of thinking and working.
• Proven experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunting, Security Operations, or a similar cybersecurity role, preferably within a tier-less SOC, CERT, or CSIRT environment.
• Experience with OSINT techniques and Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs).
• Strong scripting skills (for example, Python or PowerShell) for integrations, log processing, and automation.
• Excellent analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to connect technical, operational, and strategic information and present it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong team player with the ability to coach colleagues on CTI methodologies and OSINT techniques.
• Affinity with or experience in critical infrastructure, the energy sector, or OT environments is a plus.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

You’ll be working with

Your colleagues in the IT SOC Team. Together with your fellow Cyber Defense Specialists and the SOC Lead, you will form a close-knit team and collaborate extensively.

We work together in Weert every Monday, and on one additional day of your choice in either Weert or ’s-Hertogenbosch. Naturally, working from home is also possible. We are a bilingual team, so you are fluent in English and motivated to learn Dutch.
